Gender equality and women empowerment should be ensured in all sectors to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, speakers at a roundtable observed.
"Women have to engage themselves in every sector as their attachment with economic activities is a must for their empowerment," Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) centre Shahamin S Zaman said.
She was addressing the roundtable on "Ring the Bell for Gender Equity" marking the International Women's Day-2016 at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) here.
International Finance Corporation (IFC), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) centre and DSE jointly organized the seminar.
Monowara Hakim Ali, Director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), said empowerment of women is a must to make them further skilled, confident and empowered.
"We cannot go back, we are looking forward to achieving our goals," she added.
DSE former president Ahasanul Islam Titu underscored the need for providing equal facilitates to men and women to create dynamic and prudent leadership for boosting the economy.
DSE Managing Director Professor Swapan Kumar Bala presided over the roundtable.
