Tens of thousands of jubilant people roared down to the streets across the country tonight after Bangladesh cricketers demolished Pakistan in the Asia Cup T20 Cricket.
The Tigers moved into the final of the tournament as they defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here under the lights.
The capital Dhaka witnessed wild celebrations with thousands of people coming down to the streets after allrounder Mamudullah hit the winning stroke boundary.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Opposition Leader Begum Raushan Ershad promptly greeted the national cricket team.
They congratulated the Bangladesh cricket team for their spectacular victory against Pakistan and expressed joy at the outstanding performance of the Tigers and wished their continued success in the Asia Cup T20 Cricket.
The Prime Minister watched the match from the stadium and provided inspiration to the Tigers.
She greeted the Bangladeshi heroes by waving hands after allrounder Mahmudullah hit the winning stroke of boundary.
Immediately after Mahmudullah hit the boundary at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, thousands of cricket fans who were glued in front of televisions across the country burst into joy.
Youths on motorcycles carrying the national flag brought out processions with drums, bugles and vuvuzelas, roaring 'Bangladesh, Bangladesh'.
Huge numbers of youths rushed to Shahbagh and Raju Memorial at TSC at Dhaka University and brought out several victory processions. Similar scenes were witnessed other parts of the capital.
