The government has decided to build an 1165-acre exclusive zone for tourists in Teknaf with hotels, night clubs, park and convention hall.
The cabinet committee on the economic affairs in a meeting on Wednesday approved the project proposals put forward by the civil aviation and tourism ministry, said Cabinet Division Joint Secretary Mostafizur Rahman.
The government has already given permission to the ministry to use 135 acres of land in the beach for the project.
Under one project, an exclusive tourist zone will be developed in Sabrang area under Teknaf Upazila.
An international-standard tourism complex will be established in place of Motel Upal, owned by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, under the second project.
The 1165-acre exclusive tourist zone will have hotels, cottages, beach villas, night clubs, a convention hall and an amusement park.
Watch towers, shopping malls, food courts, cineplexes and swimming pools will be developed on 5.76-acre land.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presided over the meeting.
