The cabinet today approved the draft of "The National Industrial Policy, 2016" aimed at rapid industrialisation and attracting more investment in the country.
The approval came at the regular cabinet meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said the proposed policy is going to be framed by updating the existing National Industrial Policy, 2010 and keeping intact its continuity.
He said the cabinet also endorsed in principle the draft of "The Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust (Amendment) Law, 2016".
Alam said "The Cantonments Law, 2016" was placed at today's cabinet meeting.
He said the law was placed by translating the Cantonments Act, 1924 and with some of its inclusion and exclusion.
After reviewing the law, the cabinet opined it will have to be brought before the cabinet after analysing. So a decision was taken to place the law after further examination.
The meeting was apprised the participation of a Bangladesh delegation led by the state minister for ICT division in the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain on February 22-25 this year.
