- Facebook to add 'offline mode' for more access in users
Facebook wants users to continue viewing their News Feed as seamlessly and as quickly as possible, even when the Internet connection is poor.
The company said that it is implementing a number of changes in order to deliver relevant content in the News Feed at times the user has a slow connection. Likewise, it is also enhancing the way its users would post a comment, which will remain possible even offline, AFP reports.
The company announced that it is now testing an update that checks if downloaded stories on the user's device are not viewed yet. All of these unseen stories are then ranked according to relevance and whether they have available images. By doing this, users are spared from the trouble of waiting for fresh stories through a spinner.
Users would automatically view ranked and previously downloaded stories at the start of every app use. They can also pull down to refresh the News Feed or simply scroll through.
New stories will be retrieved periodically throughout the day whenever the user has a reliable connection. This will ensure a way to deliver stories that are up to date.
Facebook plans to test and roll out the News Feed features over time to gather feedback.
