Cricketer Shahadat Hossain on Tuesday was granted bail by the High Court in a case filed over the torture of his housemaid.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Amir Hossain gave the bail order in response to a petition.
Shahadat has been bailed till March 31.
The court also issued a ruling, asking the government to explain why the player should not be granted regular bail.
The government has been asked to respond to the ruling within three weeks.
On November 12, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah rejected a bail petition filed by Shahadat.
A journalist filed the case against Shahadat and his wife.
