Bangladesh Women made a great start in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 in Bangkok on Saturday (Nov 28).
At the Thailand Cricket Ground today, Bangladesh defeated Thailand by 73 runs, reports icc-cricket.com.
Thailand opted to bowl first and their bowlers did well to keep Bangladesh to 105 for 6 with Nattaya Boochatham and Suleeporn Laomi picking up two wickets apiece.
Bangladesh led by opener Ayasha Rahman’s 32-ball 30 and Fargana Haque’s 21-ball 23 to post 105 in 20 overs. Shaila Sharmin posted 17 while Sharmin Akhter scored 12.
In reply, Thailand folded for 32, the lowest score in Women’s Twenty20. Chanida Sutthiruang top-scored with an 18-ball 13 while seven batters failed to open their account.
Before this game, the record was held by Sri Lanka when it could manage just 57, also against Bangladesh, in 2012.
Bangladesh will now play Scotland while Thailand will play Papua New Guinea in its next game on Sunday.
