At last, possibly Bangla desh is going to have a leader of the opposition who is decent and of democratic manner. It is Rowshon Ershad of Jatiyo Party led by her husband Hussain Muhammad Ershad, the former autocrat dictator of the region.
Throughout the past decades the Bengal land of Bangladesh experienced the opposition leaders to be actively inactive in the national assembly. The opposition leaders, without exception, loved to be used to walk out from the parliament and they hardly ensured their presence in the national assembly.
As the 10th parliamentary election confirms Jatiyo Party led by Mr Ershad to be the opposition party and the sources confirm Mrs Ershad to be the leader of the respective party in the parliament, it is hopefully assumed that we the Bengali nation this time have a chance to have a leader of the opposition who is sensible and decent. Rowshon’s latest and ever-first meet-the-press program indicates that hope to come to light with success.
For couple of eras, Mrs Rowshon Ershad is serving Bengal politics. And she never met the press in meet-the-press sense. On Wednesday, she comes for the first time and wins over the attention of Bengali media.
The media center room of the parliament is a tiny place for a huge gathering. The journalists made the environment noisy, in addition. This made the senior party leaders irritated and upset. But no such expression was visible on Rowshon’s face.
Rowshon starts the introduction herself. She starts talking on foot and claims to like talking on foot as she comes to have a view of the presence. But she sits down when the journalists request her to do so, as the microphones are placed on the table.
Answering the media’s quest, she replies that she used to avoid the media as she is not the spokesperson of her party and she feels sorry so that the journalists may feel uncomfortable for that practice of hers.
She emphasizes on the responsibility of the politicians to save the country, to protect it, and to lead it to the ultimate progress. She urges violence to be said ‘No’.
In her speech, she reminds the nation to think about the future and employment of the Bengali youth.
Answering the questions, this former first-lady ensures discretion. No hurry, no arrogance.
